  • Our PBS course will equip participants with the knowledge to implement a person-centred framework used to understand and support individuals who exhibit behaviours that challenge. It’s aim is to improve their quality of life by addressing underlying needs, rather than just controlling the behaviour. It involves understanding why the behaviour happens and building proactive strategies, environments, and skills to meet those needs better, promoting inclusion, dignity, and a reduction in restrictive practices.

  • Our training provides bespoke evidence-based and scenario-driven conflict management techniques to handle challenging behaviours in various settings. The course covers Positive Handling, Risk Assessment, Compliance Standards, Documentation and Reporting.

  • This focus group style session looks at each workbook included in the All Wales Induction Framework relating to Social Care Wales.

    We have found interpreting the questions challenging for some of our staff, especially for those who’s first language is not English. There are 7 workbooks, 5 for adults and 2 for children. Each session is supported by a power-point presentation, handouts and learner led discussion.

  • This two-day course provides comprehensive manual handling training in line with the All Wales Manual Handling Passport Scheme, enabling learners to develop consistent, transferable skills recognised across Wales.

    The course explores the principles of safer manual handling, risk assessment, and the prevention of musculoskeletal injuries. Learners will develop both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, including moving and handling people, use of equipment, and applying safer handling techniques in a range of care and workplace scenarios.

    There is a strong focus on person-centred care, dignity, communication, and individual risk assessment, ensuring that manual handling is carried out safely for both staff and the people they support.

  • This refresher course updates and reinforces safe manual handling knowledge and skills in line with the All Wales Manual Handling Passport Scheme. It is designed for learners who already hold a valid All Wales Manual Handling Passport and need to maintain competence.

    The course revisits key principles of safer manual handling, risk assessment, and injury prevention, with a focus on maintaining best practice. Learners will refresh practical skills in moving and handling people, use of equipment, and applying person-centred approaches that promote dignity, communication, and safety.

  • This Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (3 Day Course) is ideal for those already working or preparing to work within industry wishing to become a qualified First Aider in the workplace for the purposes of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.

    All our First Aid training courses are delivered by individuals with real life experience in dealing with emergency situations. 

    The recommended course duration is 3 days with a 2 day requalification.

  • This course provides learners with the knowledge and practical skills needed to respond to emergencies involving infants and children. It focuses on recognising illness and injury, acting quickly, and providing safe and effective first aid until professional medical help is available.

    Learners will develop an understanding of assessing emergency situations, managing unconsciousness, choking, bleeding, burns, fractures, allergic reactions, and medical conditions such as asthma and seizures. The course also covers cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), and infection prevention.

  • This course provides learners with the essential knowledge and skills needed to respond effectively in emergency situations where a person is unresponsive or not breathing normally. It focuses on early recognition of cardiac arrest and other life-threatening emergencies.

    Learners will develop an understanding of how to assess an emergency situation, call for help, and provide basic life support, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the safe use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), where available. The course also covers recovery position, choking response, and maintaining personal safety.

  • This Basic Clinical Observations training is targeted at health & social care staff who are taking basic clinical observations, also known as baseline observations. Staff are required to show evidence that they have completed training and their competency to take and record basic clinical observations. This is a procedure being carried out by carers both in nursing and residential homes as well as across community-based settings.

    Why, when and how baseline observations are conducted, the normal range for each observation and how to record as well as action to be taken outside the range are also covered.

  • This course provides learners with essential knowledge and skills to support individuals with epilepsy, safely and effectively. It explores what epilepsy is, different seizure types, common triggers, and how epilepsy can affect daily life.

    Learners will develop an understanding of how to recognise and respond to seizures, including when and how to administer prescribed buccal rescue medication in line with individual care plans, policies, and professional boundaries. The course also introduces Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS), including how it works, when it may be used, and how to support individuals who have a VNS device.

    The course emphasises safety, dignity, consent, accurate record keeping, and the importance of following agreed protocols and escalating concerns appropriately.

  • This course provides learners with an understanding of modern-day slavery and human trafficking, and how it affects individuals, families, and communities today. It explores what modern slavery is, the different forms it can take, and why some people are more vulnerable to exploitation.

    Learners will develop an awareness of the signs and indicators of modern slavery, including labour exploitation, domestic servitude, sexual exploitation, and criminal exploitation. The course also covers the importance of safeguarding, reporting concerns, and working within legal and organisational responsibilities.

    With a strong focus on awareness, prevention, and protection, this course supports learners to recognise concerns, respond appropriately, and contribute to keeping people safe.

  • This course introduces learners to the role and responsibilities of the support worker within health and social care settings. It explores how support workers contribute to the wellbeing, independence, and quality of life of individuals through person-centred care and support.

    Learners will develop an understanding of professional boundaries, duty of care, communication, safeguarding, and working as part of a multidisciplinary team. The course also covers values, equality, confidentiality, record keeping, and the importance of following policies and procedures.

  • This course provides learners with an understanding of the role and responsibilities of a children’s support worker within learning disability settings in Wales. It explores how support workers contribute to the care, development, wellbeing, and safeguarding of children and young people with learning disabilities.

    Learners will develop an understanding of person-centred and child-centred approaches, effective communication, promoting independence, and supporting positive outcomes. The course also covers safeguarding children, equality and inclusion, professional boundaries, partnership working with families, schools, and multidisciplinary teams, and working in line with Welsh legislation and guidance.

  • This course provides learners with essential knowledge and understanding of infection control and its importance in maintaining safe and healthy environments. It explores how infections are spread and the role individuals play in preventing and controlling infection.

    Learners will develop an understanding of standard infection prevention measures, including hand hygiene, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), cleaning procedures, and safe waste disposal. The course also covers recognising risks, following policies and procedures, and responding appropriately to potential outbreaks.

  • This course provides learners with an understanding of mental health and wellbeing and how mental health can affect individuals at different stages of life. It explores common mental health conditions, factors that influence mental wellbeing, and the impact mental health can have on daily living, relationships, and work.

    Learners will develop an understanding of reducing stigma, recognising early signs of mental distress, and responding in a supportive and appropriate way. The course also covers communication skills, promoting positive mental health, self-care, and knowing when and how to seek additional support.

  • This course provides learners with an understanding of learning disabilities and how they can affect individuals’ development, communication, and everyday living. It explores different types of learning disabilities and the importance of recognising each person’s strengths, abilities, and individuality.

    Learners will develop an understanding of person-centred approaches, effective communication, and inclusive support strategies that promote independence, choice, and wellbeing. The course also covers rights, equality, safeguarding, and the importance of working in partnership with individuals, families, and professionals.

  • This course provides learners with essential knowledge and understanding of health and safety in the workplace. It explores the importance of maintaining safe working environments and the shared responsibilities of employers and employees.

    Learners will develop an understanding of identifying hazards, assessing risks, and following safe working practices. The course covers topics such as accident prevention, manual handling, fire safety, infection prevention, and reporting incidents and near misses.

  • This course provides learners with a basic introduction to food hygiene and food safety in line with requirements in Wales. It is designed for anyone who handles food occasionally or supports food preparation as part of their role.

    Learners will develop an understanding of personal hygiene, safe food handling practices, cleanliness, and the importance of preventing food contamination. The course also covers food safety hazards, basic temperature control, allergens and the role of individuals in maintaining a safe and hygienic environment.

  • This course provides learners with essential knowledge and understanding of safeguarding children and young people in Wales. It explores what safeguarding means, who is at risk, and the importance of protecting children from abuse, neglect, and harm.

    Learners will develop an understanding of the different types of abuse, signs and indicators of harm, and how to respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns. The course covers roles and responsibilities, information sharing, recording and reporting concerns, and the importance of working in partnership with families and other agencies.

    The course is informed by Welsh safeguarding legislation, national guidance, and local safeguarding arrangements, with a strong emphasis on children’s rights, wellbeing, voice, choice and control.

  • This course explores the importance of dignity, respect, equality, and diversity in creating safe, inclusive, and supportive environments. Learners will develop an understanding of how individual values, beliefs, backgrounds, and life experiences influence people’s needs and rights.

    The course covers key principles, relevant legislation, and the impact of discrimination, prejudice, and bias. Learners will explore inclusive and person-centred approaches, effective communication, and ways to promote dignity, respect, and equal opportunities in everyday practice.

  • This course explores the principles and practice of high-quality end of life care, with a strong focus on dignity, compassion, and respect. Learners will develop an understanding of what end of life care involves and the importance of supporting individuals to die with comfort, choice, and dignity.

    The course covers physical, emotional, psychological, social, and spiritual aspects of care, including symptom management, communication skills, advance care planning, and supporting families and loved ones. Learners will also explore ethical and legal considerations, cultural sensitivity, and the importance of person-centred approaches at the end of life.

     

  • This course provides learners with essential knowledge and practical understanding of stoma care to support safe, hygienic, and person-centred practice. It explores the different types of stomas, reasons for stoma formation, and how a stoma can affect physical health, emotional wellbeing, and daily living.

    Learners will develop an understanding of stoma management, skin care, infection prevention, and recognising signs of complications such as leakage, irritation, infection, or changes in stoma appearance. The course also emphasises dignity, consent, privacy, accurate record keeping, and when to report or escalate concerns.

  • This course provides learners with essential knowledge and practical understanding of bowel and continence care to support safe, dignified, and person-centred practice. It explores common causes of bowel and continence difficulties and how these can affect health, comfort, confidence, and quality of life.

    Learners will develop an understanding of different bowel care needs, continence support methods, infection prevention, and maintaining privacy and dignity. The course also covers recognising signs of constipation, diarrhoea, faecal impaction, and incontinence-related skin issues, as well as when and how to report or escalate concerns.

  • This course provides learners with essential knowledge and practical understanding of catheter care to support safe, hygienic, and person-centred practice. It explores the different types of urinary catheters, reasons for catheterisation, and potential risks and complications.

    Learners will develop an understanding of infection prevention and control, safe catheter maintenance, fluid balance, and recognising early signs of catheter-related problems such as blockages, leakage, or urinary tract infections. The course also emphasises dignity, consent, accurate record keeping, and when to report or escalate concerns.

  • This course provides learners with essential knowledge and understanding of pressure area care and the prevention of pressure ulcers. It explores what pressure damage is, who is at risk, and the impact pressure ulcers can have on health, comfort, and quality of life.

    Learners will develop an understanding of risk factors, skin assessment, repositioning, use of pressure-relieving equipment, nutrition and hydration, and maintaining skin integrity. The course also covers recognising early signs of pressure damage, accurate record keeping, and when to report or escalate concerns.

  • This course provides learners with essential knowledge of spinal injuries and their impact on individuals’ health, mobility, and independence. It explores the different types and levels of spinal injury and how these can affect bodily functions, sensation, and daily living.

    A key focus of the course is autonomic dysreflexia, a potentially life-threatening condition associated with spinal cord injuries above T6. Learners will develop an understanding of common triggers, signs and symptoms, prevention strategies, and the importance of rapid response and escalation.

    The course also emphasises person-centred care, risk reduction, safe support techniques, and effective communication to promote dignity, safety, and wellbeing.

  • This course provides learners with a clear and compassionate understanding of dementia and its impact on individuals, families, and care professionals. It explores what dementia is, the different types, and how symptoms can affect memory, communication, behaviour, and daily living. Learners will develop practical knowledge and skills to support people living with dementia in a person-centred way, promoting dignity, independence, and wellbeing. The course also covers effective communication strategies, responding to distress, and understanding the importance of partnership working with families and other professionals.

  • This course explores the concept of wellbeing and its importance in supporting individuals to live healthy, balanced, and fulfilling lives. Learners will gain an understanding of physical, mental, emotional, and social wellbeing, and how these areas are interconnected.

    The course focuses on practical ways to promote wellbeing, including recognising factors that affect wellbeing, supporting positive mental health, managing stress, and encouraging healthy lifestyle choices. Learners will also explore the role of self-care, resilience, and supportive environments in maintaining wellbeing for themselves and others.

  • This course provides learners with an understanding of Parkinson’s and how the condition can affect movement, communication, cognition, and daily living. It explores common symptoms, how Parkinson’s progresses, and the impact it can have on individuals and their families.

    Learners will develop an understanding of person-centred approaches, effective communication strategies, and practical ways to support mobility, independence, and wellbeing. The course also covers medication considerations, managing fluctuations, reducing risk of falls, and recognising when to report or escalate concerns.

  • This course provides learners with an understanding of Huntington’s disease and how it can affect movement, cognition, behaviour, and emotional wellbeing. It explores the progressive nature of the condition and the impact it can have on individuals and their families.

    Learners will develop an understanding of person-centred approaches, effective communication, and practical strategies to support individuals living with Huntington’s disease. The course also covers managing risk, maintaining dignity, supporting independence, and recognising when to escalate concerns or seek additional support.

  • This course examines the risks and hazards associated with the use of restraint when caring for post-natal clients. It explores why restraint may be considered, the significant physical, psychological, and emotional risks involved, and why restraint should always be used as a last resort.

    Learners will develop an understanding of the unique vulnerabilities of post-natal clients, including physical recovery after childbirth, emotional wellbeing, and safeguarding considerations for both the parent and infant. The course emphasises legal and ethical responsibilities, informed consent, trauma-informed care, and the importance of using least-restrictive alternatives.

  • This course introduces the principles and practice of person-centred care, focusing on placing individuals at the heart of all care and support. Learners will explore how values, beliefs, life experiences, and personal preferences shape each person’s needs and choices.

    The course covers key concepts such as dignity, respect, independence, consent, and partnership working. Learners will develop practical skills to communicate effectively, involve individuals in decision-making, and tailor care to support wellbeing, autonomy, and quality of life.

  • This course provides learners with essential knowledge of medication awareness to support safe and effective practice in care settings. It explores different types of medication, common routes of administration, and the importance of following policies, procedures, and professional boundaries.

    Learners will develop an understanding of safe handling, storage, recording, and disposal of medication, as well as recognising and reporting errors, side effects, and adverse reactions. The course also highlights the importance of consent, confidentiality, and person-centred approaches when supporting individuals with medication.

  • This course explores the importance of effective communication and accurate record keeping in care and support settings. Learners will develop an understanding of how clear communication supports safe, person-centred care and effective teamwork.

    The course covers different methods of communication, including verbal, non-verbal, written, and digital communication, as well as adapting communication to meet individual needs. Learners will also explore the principles of good record keeping, including accuracy, confidentiality, data protection, and professional standards.

  • This course provides learners with essential knowledge of diabetes and the importance of effective foot care in preventing complications. It explores the different types of diabetes, how the condition can affect the body, and why people living with diabetes are at increased risk of foot problems.

    Learners will develop an understanding of common foot conditions, warning signs of infection or poor circulation, and the importance of regular foot checks. The course also covers safe foot care practices, hygiene, nail care, footwear advice, and when to escalate concerns to healthcare professionals.

  • This course explores the principles of equality, diversity, and inclusion and their importance in creating fair, respectful, and supportive environments. Learners will develop an understanding of how individual differences, values, beliefs, and backgrounds shape people’s experiences.
